McMahn Memorials History
McMahan Memorials
traces its history back to March of 1963 when Cecil McMahan purchased
White Monument Works Located at 4 Weaverville Hwy. Shortly after, Mr.
McMahan partnered
with his brother-in-law, Gerald Smith and successfully started the family
business at New Bridge.
In 1984, Hendersonville
Monument Company was acquired from Fred Gentry. The Office was located
on the corner of Church Street and Kanuga Road in downtown Hendersonville.
In 1994, Hilltop Monument
Sales was acquired from Jarvis Fender with 2 offices located in
Weaverville at Clark's Chapel Road and Fletcher at Hwy. 25.
In 1997, Mr. Smith's remaining interest in the business was purchased by the McMahan family
and the name was changed to McMahan & Sons Monuments. The Hendersonville office was merged to
the Fletcher location while the Weaverville office was merged with the North Asheville location.
In 2007, Cecil McMahan sold the property in North Asheville and retired from the business.
In the same year, McMahan Memorials was incorporated and still operates today out of a
newly updated location at 14 Heritage Park Drive in Fletcher, North Carolina. McMahan Memorials
is now owned and operated by his sons and grandsons.
